  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1/4 cup hot pepper jelly

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Make the Dough:

    • In a bowl, mix shredded cheddar, butter, flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne (if using).
    • Stir until the dough comes together. If too crumbly, knead gently with your hands.

  • Shape the Thumbprints:

    • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.
    • Press your thumb or the back of a spoon into the center of each ball to create a small indentation.

  • Bake:
