Berry Croissant Bake is a delicious and easy breakfast casserole made with buttery croissants, fresh berries, and a creamy custard. Perfect for a weekend brunch or holiday gathering, this dish is both indulgent and flavorful.
– 4-5 croissants, torn into pieces
– 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc.)
– 3 large eggs
– 1 cup milk
– 1/2 cup heavy cream
– 1/4 cup sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– Pinch of salt
– Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
2. Tear the croissants into pieces and arrange them evenly in the baking dish.
3. Sprinkle the mixed berries over the croissant pieces.
4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
5. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries, making sure everything is soaked.
6. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the croissants to absorb the custard.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm.
– You can use any type of berries you prefer, or a mix of different berries.
– For a richer flavor, you can add a bit of orange zest to the custard mixture.
– If you want to prepare it ahead of time, assemble the bake the night before, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Bake in the morning as directed.
